All "kong-gu" today..

Another long day at the trials today.. funnily enough my legs seems to be more tired than any of the other trials before.. lol..

The day started off with the Open category.. only 6 dogs this time round.. 2 from CD Trainers - Schnappi and Lucky.  And only 3 dogs for Novice and Intermediate.  But after Micole withdraw due to heat, only 2 dogs left... this is really funny to watch, cause can you imagine a trial with 3 events and a total of... 10 dogs???  LOL!!  Really pathetic... 

The D'Marquee was quite packed with 3 rings - 2 for show and 1 for obedience.   And the obedience ring was not carpeted.. the floor was quite slippery and there was only a something-like 2x2 meters carpet in the middle.  Being a small ring in a big tentage, poor judge have to fight against the loud hailers in the other rings using her voice to call command.  The ring is so small that the jumps can't even be preset-ed...  they have to moved in and out for each dog.  There's also no proper stand for the distance control commands... pathetic X 2,3,4,5!!!

So.. end of the day... none of the dogs in the 3 categories managed to qualify... due to various reasons... a trial with no prize presentation... LOL... pathetic X6!!  All of us have to work harder the next time round!!

Out of the trial - Schnappi also took part in the companion dog games.  Bb wanted her to have some fun to "disperse" some of her hyper activeness.  She got herself a 2nd place in the Doggie Olympics race and a 1st in the Ping-pong race... lol... so she's got herself 2 packs of biscuits and bowling-pin-like squeaky toys...  and best of all, she peed in the 2x2m carpet!!  She must have thought how come there's a patch of greenery in the middle of nowhere.. haha!!

Whatever it is, there's really still many things we have brush up... new challenges always pop up after each trial to make us realise that only lots of groundwork and practice can make your dog more reliable.   The other misc factors can only be determined on the day itself.   Anyway it's a sport we enjoyed so there's no need to take things too hard... like some ppl... no names mentioned to protect the innocent... :P

Micole's "quitting" the coming trial..

My dear girl is on heat... so she'll have to "quit" the trial this Sunday... no wonder she's moody this whole week and her training is really very slack..  Anyway her heel work is really bad... so this is really a "good excuse" to put it off... :P  Will continue training her to prep for the next trial instead.. 

What happened??

Realised I'm getting really lazy.. lol... didn't even record down the happenings of the 2 noti girls recently... :P

Coming trial on 15th Aug.. have registered the Cotton Baby (new nick for Micole) for Novice (yes again..) and intermediate (her 1st attempt).. her broad jump is more or less ok le, but her distance control still not reliable.. haha!!  Then again, from the initial stage when I only saw her doing the sit and down, she actually managed to STAND... the first time I saw her doing stand during distance control, I was sooo surprised!!  Trust me, it has never been easy getting her to stand.  Anyway we just let her try out this time round... no need to pin too high hopes.. lol

As for the "piglet" in my house.. yes that's Schnappi who has an "un-fillable" tummy, she's still going for the Opens.   During the last training, Chris says he thinks we need to start the weekday training soon... after seeing how Schnappi performed during training... wahahaha!!  dunno whether to cry or laugh. 

Trial will be in an aircon tentage... and what's more!!  It's the 7th month again!!  The memory of Schnappi rolling all over the trial ground during her down stay last year vividly appeared in my head...  it was the 7th month and we all think she was possessed!!!  No joke... hahaha!!  Hopefully she wouldn't get too "relaxed" this time round again.   I realised she always goes into a relaxed play mode in aircon environment... haizz...

May have to send Micole in for grooming before the trial... hair might be a little longer then, and maybe a shower for Schnappi too... think think and see how...

Schnappi's growth is benign

Schnappi went for her review and gotten the test results as well... nothing abnormal about the growth!!!  Phew~~~   This really is the best news I heard so far...  was really worried when she went for her surgery.   Glad now everything seems to go the good way.   Now the only hope is that she'll recover fast and the wound will heal soon... :)

Schnappi went for ops

Schnappi went for ops to remove her stones and an unknown growth... according to doc, it seems like at the point of ops, there wasn't many stones in her. Apparently for the past 3 weeks, the water we managed to make her drink helped to flushed out the stones... the growth was removed and sent to AVA for lab test. Hopefully it turns out benign.. :)

Schnappi is now resting at home... didn't eat much yesterday cuz she was too tired after the ops. And she lying down most of the time.. still a little lethargic. Today she looks better though still lying down most of the time... she starts to consume some food already. Really hope she be better the next few days...

All April updates!!

   Early april, Schnappi was diagnosed with stones in her bladder.. boohoo:( ... this is the result of her not drinking enuf water... haizz, she's scheduled for ops on the 28th... then again Bb wants to send her to another doc for 2nd opinion... hopefully she'll be well and healthy after this...

   Micole celebrated her 2nd birthday on the 10th. I made a 2nd attempt on the meatballs. This time it turned out pretty well but sorry no pics... forgot to take some photos before they swallowed all the bally stuff... :) glad they enjoyed it so much!!

   Meet Apple at pet moverslast sunday... her bf's brother sent his schnauzer for training. guess wat!! dog's name is Lazy... erm sure hope it doesn't reflect the character. my little bully scared the poor pup by charging at him.. pai sei pai sei.. :P

   Schnappi finally gotten her CDX today!!! Woohoo!!!!!! At last she made it... and she's in 4th placing today. Lucky missed the 4th placing by an inch... hee so we got the chance to grab the seat... Lucky 承让承让... :P

   Micole got her 2nd pass after a tie for the 4th placing... during the tie breaker, she stared blank and didn't respond the 2 calls... haha, so end up she missed the 4th and got herself another pass instead... nvm lar we try again in july... including intermediate the next time round.

   Russell did extremely well in his first attempt - got a double win in Pre-Novice and Novice... so he'll be proceeding on to intermediate next round.

These should be all the updates for April I guess... glad it all ended with good news!! :)

1st trial in 2010

Finally the date is out.. 24 April for Obedience, venue tba. Almost 6 months from the last trial...

Guess this time round there'll only be 3 dogs from our side... Lucky, Schnappi and Micole. Where are my fellow classmates?? Haha!! All m.i.a. liao... haven't seen Maple or Bourbon for ages!!!

How the girls fare now?? Schnappi still ok... everything she needs to learn, she oredi did... it's only how she "decides" to perform on the actual day.

Micole leh... let's juz say she's not ready for intermediate... distance control and broad jump still not ok... and now she seems a little fearful of training... so have to bring her "joy" back first. prolly will juz enrol her in the novice only... take it slow and steady... haha excuses..

Training on tonite... but it has been raining the whole afternoon... so hopefully the sheltered area won't be too wet... and the rain to stop and the weather to stay cool later...

Post# 1 for 2010... haha!!

Yes... post #1 for 2010... muahahaha!! pai sey... me damn lazy to blog recently...

And so i dedicate my first 2010 blog to my dearest Schnappi... for today is her birthday!!! My big girl has turned 4 this year... oops, i'm beginning to feel tears dwelling up my eyes oredi...

I can't believe that time juz flew passed... she's been my dear girl since she was 4 months old... how i changed from initially a bit fearful for her to loving her dearly as my family... how i hate her for being noti to how i missed her during my holidays... how she irritates me by licking me non-stop to how she wags her tail when we had fun together... the list goes on and on....

From a young playful pup to a "grown-up" (and still VERY playful), she definitely has created lotsa memories for us... be it bad or good. She's now obedience-trained and has accomplished the several levels in the OB trials - currently missing another pass in the opens for her CDX. It's been very challenging training her, as she really has a "mind of her own"... haha... fortunately though, she has a soft spot for treats and of course using her "work for food" attitude, we have to invest into some training treats... :P

Today she turns 4... we hope she'll stay playful (but must be obedient lar) and healthy. Recently she had some problems with her pee... some crystals i think... but it has gotten better... so we definitely hope she'll stay in good health... btw she's grown fatter... seeing the way she eats, she really might grow sideways further if we dun control her... so snacking = NO NO... Schnappi u heard mummy??

Oh yes, time to say what my birthday gift for her was... ... ... meatballs!! Did i hear "chey~~~"?? Oh well, it's really nothing great... but then i dedicated the first ever meatballs i made in my life to her leh... wahahaha!!

Well i admit they dun really look "ball-ly"... lol... but i swear they're bursting with all my TLC!! And ya... like Angeline says, with my sweat too... no tears yet lar... But I'm glad Schnappi is enjoying it... together with the muffins that Bb bought for her. It's quite fun preparing the balls actually... i may consider making some other treats for them occassionally... :)

Last but no the least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAOBEI... lots of luv and kisses from Daddy, Mummy and Mei Mei....

small dog.. BIG ATTITUDE

That's what Chris said last week... haha!! of cuz that's referring to my dear Micole... well i have to admit i totally agree with him... she's really fearless and it really impress me at times i see what she can do and her never-say-die attitude. She "openly challenges" other dogs... even those much bigger than her... sometimes i wonder if it's pure fearless or plain stupidity... like we say "不知到死字怎么写”... then again she displays her brave side that i have to admit might be absent from myself sometimes... :(

I sure hope she can really live up to our expectations and do well in the trials next year... her e-collar training has begun... and she seems to be slowly understanding what she's supposed to do and not to do... way to go girl... mummy is always behind you!!

Last update for 2009... maybe?

Micole's gotten her "first xmas gift" - erm.. the famous e-collar!! it's finally here!!

Schnappi is still greedy with food, and she's been rather emo recently... she can whine in her playpen, then when the door is open, she doesn't wanna come out... yet keep pacing up and dow inside and continue whining... MAD, i told Bb. She wants people to open the door, stand by it, to invite her out... pampered!!

2010 is around the corner... hopefully the 2 noti girls will stay healthy... Micole can learn her intermediate faster and more reliable... Schnappi can stop barking early in the morning for breakfast... the list can go on and on... :P

Mid-Nov updates

1st Nov marks the day that Micole receives her first award in her life... she got 3rd place in her Pre-Novice... woohoo dun play play leh... a trophy at her 2nd attempt in the obedience trial... :) and a pass for Novice too!! But honestly her novice wasn't well done... many lags... really need a lot of brush up for her off-leash.

As for Schnappi... she was erm... an "extremely happy" dog that day. Went "bonkers" in the trial ring... didnt do her send-away... didn't do her retrieve over jumps correctly. It was rather hilarious to see her went wild, minus Bb's erm... "not-so-happy" face... :P

This marks the end of all trials for 2009... better luck next year!!

Updates on the girls

Juz realised it's been real long since I last posted updates on the girls... been bz like hell... :( Let me try and recall what happen these 2 months...

  Micole went for her annual jab... and had her anal sacs cleared. Doc said the sacs "felt full"... and that squeeze costed me 16 bucks!!

  Schnappi weighs 22.2kg now... and many said she's grown fatter... :P need to trim down a little...

  Micole's training is erm... not too good... not sure what went wrong :( too much correction? too much ear pinching? hmmm... anyway her drive went down and her good heelwork seems way off now... changed her training treats to something of more "value" and "quality" - chicken and cheese jerky... and she seems to respond a bit better. Hopefully she can go back to her old self by end of the month....
  
  
• Chewie celebrated her 3rd birthday last Sunday... and my, the mummy really prep lotsa food (for dogs)... shephard's pie, chicken rice, cakes, tarts, meatballs... Schnappi and Micole really had a good treat... first time i see Micole savouring her food so quickly... hahaha...

• Lucky kena fungal and bacterial infections... Bb says must monitor Schnappi and Micole too.... scary scary~~ anyway sending them for grooming tmr...

• Schnappi visited the vet again... had bladder infection... she started peeing drops every few minutes. Doc says consumption of water is too low... need at least of 1.5ltrs a day...

That's about it at the moment...

Some updates on the girls...

Recently Schnappi is very picky with her food... not sure if she's lost interest in the food or she's just finding trouble... :P she would take few bites, then walk off and lie somewhere... or she just sniff a bit and walk away... Bb says she's being choosy... may be true though, cuz when we added wet food in she licked the bowl clean clean... haha!!

Micole is currently on her 2nd heat... right after National Day... and she didnt seem much bothered by it... except me having to wash her butt every nite to keep it clean... in a dilenma whether to sterilise her or not... she's such a happy active dog now, i definitely dun want to change this part of her. So am still thinking... anyway have to send her grooming after her heat, then off for her annual jab...

Conquering the waves... savouring popeyes... and the artistic side of me!!

Finally the long-awaited PH arrived.. and we've decided to bring the dogs out to Hort Park together with Hippo and family..

So came Sunday morning, and we drove off with the girls on board... and my fav mac breakfast... and Hippo & family following in the car behind... around 20mins later, a bridge hanging high up captured our eyes... and so we turned into the car park. And there were are... minutes from the Henderson Wave.

The view was quite beautiful, considering that it's the highest overhead bridge in Singapore... weather was hot... wished it was windier... :) I'm surprised that this little Micole really can walk but she was a little cranky that morning... growling at the dogs that passed her... hahaha... dunno whether to be mad or laugh at her... but she did cause a little stir along the way... bringing some smiles to the passer-bys... thou i'm not sure if the other dog owners are exactly pleased to see her growls at their dogs... :P anyway no harm done so who cares... :P

Schnappi was in demand for photo taking... shd have charged for every photo taken... could really help a little in the "Save-Ivy-Fund"... Micole did get a few fans herself... suddenly i'm felt like a 星妈... muahahaha!!

After ard 1.5hrs, back to the car we went... the girls were hot and so were we. So while they enjoyed the aircon in the car, the rest of us enjoyed our ice cream before heading off to drop the girls back home then meeting Hippo's family at Kovan for lunch.

Had planned to bring the girls out to Marina Barrage on the next day. But the weather didn't permit, hence the humans handed to T3 for popeyes while the dogs have a snooze at home. After savouring the chix, we strolled around T3 and came across an "artisitic zone". There were sculpted wood blocks with papers and crayons provided... and so I had a go to inflinch myself with art and colors. It was a fun and "no-need-to-use-so-much-braincell" event for me!! Very de-stressing too!! Moreover papers and crayons are free to use!! see some of my work... 1st time I perspire doing arts... hahahaa!! U might just see me back there again!! :P

Pity the weekend flew past so quickly.... arghhh!! when's the next PH ya??

My near champion... my near runner-up... my qualifier... MY HEROS!!!

My "near" champion: 02 August 09 marks the first-ever trial for my dear Micole (#300). She was the first dog to start the OB trial for the day. She topped the heelwork and scored full marks for all the rest... except for the "fatal" recall... not that she didn't do... but she did it on the 2nd command... boo hoo... "ai-wan" ah!! Such a near miss to the Champion!!!

My "near" runner-up: Just 2 points away from the qualifying score, again dear Micole (#311) missed her runner-up placing... she missed 2 stands and an auto-sit. And she licked the judge's hand when he touched her on stand stay... judge commented that she's a very friendly dog... muahahaha!!!! Her recall is real fast this time... to the extent that she LP... and the judge had an "ouch" look on his face... :P

My Qualifier: Dear Schnappi finally made it!!! She got her PASS in her open trial, well not without some heart-stopping moments. Her heelwork was scored quite good, she made it thru her distance control and god-damn send away (which she always flunked). Then she got high and held on to the dumb-bell and towel during the last 2 exercises, refusing to give to Bb initially!! Her sit-stay was one of her best so far i think, then came the worrying down stay. She had those hallucinating moments... commando-crawl moments... rolling around moments (Bb call this "roti-prata" stance - flipping here and there)... so for her not-to-move for 10mins is rather impossible... she did got distracted and there was a min or so, she lied down poking her 2 legs in the air and nibbling her back!! Trust me, those were the worse heart-stopping 10mins in the entire trial!!

My HEROS: Bb - All the hard work for training the 2 noti girls. Micole - Although she missed the placings but nevertheless she was wonderful at her 1st attempt.. and we'll try again the next round. Schnappi - Well done!! Finally hard work paid off.. of cuz there's still lots of room for improvement!! But my hero and heroines, 3 cheers for u!! Hip hip hurray... Hip hip hurray... Hip hip hurray!!!

Judge for the day

Yesterday afternoon, Bb helped Chris judged for the pm class... and my my, was he stingy with the scores... :P highest score was only 187/200 i think, and lowest is 156/200... think the am class has a top scorer of 190+... haha... Bb said if he minus 1 point 2 pont, then the scores will be very close or even same... that's why he ga-ga-lai... muahahaha!! But heng lar, all passed... else they'll let loose their dogs to bite him liao... :P Think next time Chris dun dare to get Bb to help judge liao... wahahaha!!

Btw, Jack and his husky Jamie also passed too.. Congrats!! Looking forward to see the photos in the CD Trainer's website... :)

Angry with Micole!!

Ki-si-ah~~~ last night this noti Micole chewed up my phone stylus and left bite marks on my poor phone... :( then she bite off the velco on my phone pouch... :( and the ribbons on my bunnie's ears... *boohoo boohoo*...

Few months back, she started to sleep in our room, together with Schnappi... separated of course. Then she had the luxury of sleeping on our bed whilst Schnappi was made to sleep on hers at the side of ours. This Micole must have "over-enjoyed" her privilege and guess it's time to knock some sense back into her...

Dunno why she seems to "enjoy" chewing... I saw the threads of her new bolster coming off after a week... and she chews on our "personal huggies" too!! and if you tell her to stop, she'll start again when u are not looking... >_<>

I spanked her butt this morning and she blink blink her watery eyes at me... but sorry, mummy is not soft-hearted when she's pissed. And i left clear instructions to Bb that NO biscuits for her in the morning!! And tonite she's confined back into her little house... no more jumping on the bed, and till she learns her manners... that's where she'll sleep.

不知死活!!

Yes... that's Micole... :P

Last night we were having training at Buangkok and around 9+, Stanley came over to join us with Mina. Mina is a Belgium Shephard added to Stanley's latest "dog collection"... :P

All was ok when i sat down with Micole at one corner... then came Stanley and Mina, sitted a distance away... and suddenly off Micole went - growling and barking non-stop at Mina!! Then Mina got "provoked" and the 2 of them started the "bark war"... :P hahaha... it may seem norm for 2 dogs to bark at each other... but this Micole, she's small in size compared to Mina... furthermore, Mina is to be trained as a "protection dog", so by nature she would be more aggressive and powerful... and this Micole daringly bark and growl at her... so we all think this Micole really 不知死活, dare to 在太岁头上动土... :P

Coming August trial..

After some thots, we decided to register Micole for Pre-Novice and Novice... and Schnappi for her usual open category... on 2nd Aug.

Micole's off leash work seems ok (but got slight lagging i think)... and people "encouraged" us to go for it :P... so here we go... let her try out and see what the girl can do.

Brushing up on Schnappi's send away too... most of the time it's ok... but there's always these few times that she runs halfway and turns back.

With these little nitty gritties, we can only do our best to reinforce their training... but whatever happens that day really is in God's hands... or rather their moods~~ haha!! :P

The girls have grown fatter!!!

Schnappi went for her annual vac last Sunday... and for the 1st time in her life... she weighed 20.20kg... hahaha!!! she has never managed to hit the 20s before... even with her highly expandable tummy... always alert at the slightest possible of food!!

And Micole has grown much more too... she's now 3.3kg!! no wonder my arms ache now after carrying her... hee~~ she's picky and it's always a hassle feeding her... but so long as she's healthy... can poo can pee can play can sleep, i'll make do with the "ordeal" of her dinner hour... :P
